Charlton suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 2-0 to Plymouth.

Jake Jervis’ second-half brace downed the Addicks, who dominated the first-half.

Josh Magennis hit the crossbar, while Jake Forster-Caskey had a volley cleared off the line.

Here is how News Shopper rated Charlton’s players…

Ben Amos - 4 - Made two relatively easy saves in the first-half, but had his shaky moments when coming out for crosses. Should have done a lot better with Jervis’ second goal.

Chris Solly - 7 - Solid, as usual. Had a bad nose bleed in the first-half but didn't let it affect him.

Patrick Bauer - 7 - His height helped contain Plymouth’s physical frontline, and distributed the ball well.

Jason Pearce - 6 - In contrast to Bauer, he struggled with the Pilgrims’ physical presence.

Jay Dasilva - 7 - Was a constant threat down the left-wing for Charlton, and defended admirably. Like many of the Addicks’ players, he is too good for League One.

Ahmed Kashi - 7 - Fortunate that his short back pass to Amos didn't come to anything. But apart from that, he carried out his job to perfection, controlled the midfield and won the ball back countless times.

Jake Forster-Caskey - 7 - His never-ending energy in midfield is filling the hole that former fans’ favourite Jordan Cousins left behind. Very unlucky to see his volley cleared off the line. Charlton's man of the match.

Ricky Holmes - 7 - Kept switching from left to right wing and troubled both full-backs. His set-piece delivery was first-class.

Billy Clarke - 5 - Very quiet game from the Irishman. If Ben Reeves is back fit next week then he could come in for him. Subbed off just past the hour mark.

Tariqe Fosu - 5 - A hard afternoon for the youngster, who never really had much space to operate in due to Plymouth putting two players on him.

Josh Magennis - 6 - Just returned from injury, but should’ve had a hat-trick in the first-half. Worked hard off the ball, but his misses ultimately cost Charlton.
