Charlton have made a “firm” offer to sign MK Dons star Ben Reeves.

Reeves’ contract runs out in the summer - and News Shopper understands Championship new boys Sheffield United are also interested in securing his services.

Addicks boss Karl Robinson is a big admirer of Reeves after bringing the playmaker to MK Dons in 2013.

Reeves’ agent John Sorzano of Omni Sports told News Shopper: “The interest is there from Charlton.

“Ben is contemplating it, he knows Karl quite well and believes in the project.

“He has a fantastic relationship with Karl. It’s something he’s really considering and that’s why he wants time to mull it over.

“He definitely holds Karl in high regard and respects Charlton because it’s a big club in English football. We all believe they should be back in the Premier League.

“A firm offer has been made and it’s a very good one for the level that Charlton are at now.”

Reeves starred for MK Dons last season, scoring 10 times in a disappointing campaign for Robbie Neilson’s men.

Reeves, 25, is unlikely to sign a new deal with the Dons and is drumming up interest from Championship clubs.

But Sorzano says the former Southampton midfielder is keen on a reunion with Robinson at Charlton.

Robinson wants to mount a promotion push next season, and Reeves would be a welcome addition to his squad.

Reeves has visited Charlton’s training ground, and talks with Robinson and chief executive Katrien Meire are set to continue.

Sorzano added: “Several clubs in the Championship have been monitoring Ben. Two of them have put offers in, but he wasn't jumping at them because of the location.

“Karl's a wonderful manager, and Ben understands his system and what he’s looking to do.”
