Leyton Orient are now bottom of the League Two table following a 5-0 loss to Accrington Stanley at the Wham Stadium.

Matty Pearson and Sean McConville both scored a double with Billy Kee heading home the first to seal an empathic win.

Josh Koroma had the best chances from an O’s point of view but was unable to find the back of the net.

It does not get any easier for Orient with Doncaster Rovers visiting Brisbane Road on Saturday but they have a little ray of sunshine with Liam Kelly set to return from his six-match ban.

Gavin Massey had the first chance of the game when he broke from the middle of the pitch but his shot outside the area was easily collected by Marek Rodak.

Accrington responded immediately but Charlie Grainger kept out Jordan Clark’s shot from the corner of the area.

Kee should have opened the scoring when the ball was passed to his feet but he dragged his shot just wide of the post.

Thirty seconds later, Sam Dalby managed to control the ball well and played in Massey but he was unable to find the back of the net.

In what was an end-to-end first 10 minutes, Shay McCartan fizzled in a cross which Billy Kee was unable to meet.

Sandro Semedo then ran straight down the other end to run past the onrushing defenders but his shot flew over the bar.

The hosts were awarded a free-kick in a dangerous area with Callum Kennedy going into the book but his shot ended up going well over the bar.

A big chance came knocking for Stanley in the 14th minute but McCartan once again fired wide of the post inside the Orient penalty area.

Nicky Hunt was called into action in the 18th minute when the skipper blocked a shot from McCartan before he managed to deflect another run into the box.

McConville was the man to float Stanley’s second free-kick into the box and it was met by Omar Beckles, but the defender could only head just over the bar.

Orient called for a penalty appeal in the 26th minute of the match when Massey appeared to be brought down by Harvey Rodgers.

However, referee Graham Salisbury waved play-on and awarded a goal-kick.

The home side were awarded another free-kick in a dangerous area in the 30th minute but McConville’s cross went over everyone in the box and out for a goal-kick.

Three minutes later, Beckles headed the ball goalwards from a McConville corner but it once again went narrowly wide of the post.

Hunt and Judd made two good blocks five minutes before the end of the half just before Koroma ran down the pitch. His shot took a deflection and Rodak was able to gather.

The O’s skipper, with the armband going to Michael Collins, had to limp off the pitch two minutes before the half and Stanley eventually broke the deadlock when Kee headed home from a McConville corner.

Orient got off to a good start in the second half when substitute Nigel Atangana released Judd down the right but Rodak smothered the ball to thwart the impending danger from Sam Dalby.

Stanley doubled their advantage in the 51st minute when Pearson headed the ball home from a free-kick with the O’s defence failing to deal with the curling cross.

The E10 side came close to reducing the deficit when Koroma found some space in the box but the Accrington defence was equal to his effort as they cleared the ball out of the danger zone.

And in the 66th minute, Orient looked to try and find the back of the net when Collin’s delivery was flapped at by Rodak before Parkes headed over from a Massey cross.

McCartan almost made it three when he tried to catch Grainger out with a quick shot but the youngster was able to keep the ball out of the net.

Accrington made it 4-0 in the space of a minute through McConville. He made it three with a curling finish before he tried his luck from inside the O’s half when it hit the bar and went in off the keeper.

And things went from bad to worse when Pearson scored his second of the match as he strolled the ball past Grainge in injury time.
