Lambert: We're all hurting

WANDERERS boss Paul Lambert refused to make excuses for Saturday's 6-0 shocker at Stockport County and promised to put it right.

He saw his side concede two own goals in a disastrous second half as Wycombe collapsed to their record league defeat - against a team who had lost all five of their previous home league games.

Some fans called for Lambert's head after the match which saw Wanderers fall to tenth in the league, nine points off automatic promotion.

Lambert said: "I'm not naive. I know results mean everything.

"The game is all about results and you will always be judged on results.

"I want to take this club as high as I can and that's what I will try and do.

"This result has hurt me. Never in my time did I think that result would come."

The match survived a pitch inspection and went ahead on a bog of a pitch but Lambert refused to hide behind the conditions which were farcical to start with and got worse.

He said: "I'm not going to use the pitch as an excuse. The game went ahead and we were well beaten.

"I think the pitch was playable at the beginning and they adapted to it better than we did.

"It was never going to be a football game, it was a question of who could handle the conditions better and Stockport handled it a lot better than us."

"We got done. We were badly beaten. I would say it is a freak result. We have never been beaten by a score like that before and I put it down to a freak result and a freak performance."

Lambert was back on the training field yesterday bidding to get his beleagured troops back up for Friday night's visit of Morecambe.

He said: "The lads are shell-shocked and I wouldn't expect anything else. They are hurting. We all are.

"What is important now is how we come back from it and it is up to me to get them up.

"We have got to recover. The only way it will manifest itself is if we get down about it."

go back to scotland. you are turning the blues from a half decent team into a bunch of "kick and hope" merchants... this is the worst wycombe team for years...

Agreed Ronnie something has to be done and done sooner rather than later to salvage something from the rest of this season. It is heartbreaking watching what is happening each match.
Come on the Directors do something positive before it is to late !!!
