Allstars lift trophy at Old Trafford

Allstars show off their world title at the home of Manchester United.

A FIVE-a-side team from Bromley are celebrating after leading England to glory in an international competition at Old Trafford.

Allstars FC beat off competition from 15 other nations to lift the glamourous prize and become world champions at the Theatre of Dreams on Bank Holiday Monday.

Their first hurdle was to win their four-team group and although they lost 2-1 to Northern Ireland, a 3-1 win against the Republic of Ireland and a 2-1 triumph against South Korea secured top spot and progress to the next phase.

Three victories in the next group stage against Scotland (3-1), Cyprus (3-1) and Bahrain (2-0) set up a semi-final clash against tournament favourites South Africa.

Allstars defied the odds to see off the Springboks 1-0 and book their place in the final against Cyprus.

Having already beaten their opponents 3-1 earlier on in the group stages, Allstars went into the game full of confidence and brushed aside the Cypriots 4-0 to become world champions.

Captain John-Paul Collier collected the trophy and gave post-match interviews with various media outlets, including MUTV, Korean television and several radio stations.
