High Speed 2 consultation ends today
THE deadline for county residents to have their say on compensation plans for a high speed rail link is today.
It is the final day for submissions to the Department for Transport's consultation on the Exceptional Hardship Scheme, in response to controversial plans for a high speed link between London and Birmingham.
The preferred route would go through tunnels underneath Amersham and the Chalfonts before cutting through the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – sparking outrage and concern among residents, many of whom could be affected by the planned route.
The deadline for applications was originally last month, but was extended due to the volume of entries received by the Department for Transport.
Meanwhile, a summit featuring people from the Department of Transport and HS2 Ltd is to take place in Aylesbury tomorrow.
The summit will not be open to the public however.
