Mark Robson pleased with Barnet's victory over Burnham Ramblers

After watching his side play through a downpour against Burnham Ramblers, Barnet boss Mark Robson admitted he was pleased his players came away with victory.
The Bees returned from Essex with a 6-0 win thanks to a brace a piece from Oliver Lee and trialist Jake Hyde. Mauro Vilhete and trialist Charles Ademeno were also on the scoresheet.
While the final result was impressive, due to the rain, it was difficult to play passing football as the ball would continuously hold up in standing water.
Nevertheless, Robson was happy to see the Bees get their pre-season campaign off to a winning start.
“Yes, it is nice (to win) but ultimately it is about the fitness and everybody getting 45 minutes.
“The performance was very pleasing, the conditions were difficult because of the torrential rain.
"Fortunately we got through 90 minutes because at one point I wasn’t sure if we would play the second half.
“That would have been a little bit of a nightmare for us. The idea of training for ten days is then for the players to get a game. So for those second half players to then miss out because of the rain would have been harsh.”
He continued: “I thought the first half wasn’t too bad. The main thing was to get the fitness out of it, but there was some nice football played in the first half. We had a couple of chances and if we had put one away then we may have knocked in two or three. But it wasn’t to be.
“Second half we got the goals and played well. It was very pleasing and some of the football was excellent.”
