Hendon learn FA Cup fate

Hendon will take on Ryman League Division One North opponents in the first qualifying round of this year’s FA Cup.

The Greens will host either Cheshunt, whom they defeated 4–1 at the same stage two seasons ago, or Potters Bar Town.

In the FA Trophy, Gary McCann’s side make the long trip to north-east Leiston.

McCann said: “The FA Cup draw is tough. Playing against established teams from the division below us won’t be easy, but it is true we could have had much opposition. Either way we will prepare ourselves for the challenge and be ready to take them on.

“The FA Trophy has been a nemesis for me since I have been manager and we have once again, been drawn against a team from our own division away from home and with a long journey. I really want to do well in the competition this season.”

Elsewhere, Wingate & Finchley have been handed a home tie in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup as they welcome Hanworth Villa, Bethnal Green United or Royston Town.

In the Trophy, Wingate will take on Corinthian Casuals or Potters Bar Town at the Harry Abrahams Stadium.

Cockfosters will begin their FA Cup season away to Essex Senior League side Sporting Bengal United.

Should they make it into the first qualifying round they would welcome Ryman Premier League outfit Hampton and Richmond Borough.

The FA Vase sees Cockfosters handed a home tie against United Counties side AFC Kempston Rovers or Stotfold.
