Russell Slade’s Leyton Orient will begin the 2012/13 season with a trip to Charlton Athletic in the Capital One Cup.
Chris Powell’s Addicks were promoted from League One as champions last season and will be looking to make an impact on their return to the Championship.
The O’s meanwhile reached the third round of the competition last season before bravely bowing out to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
A penalty shootout victory at Southend United was followed by a 3-2 success at home to Bristol Rovers, but despite a battling display in Lancashire, Orient fell to a 3-2 loss against the then-Premier League side.
The O’s experienced mixed results when they met Charlton last season.
The televised New Year’s Eve clash at Brisbane Road saw Matthew Spring’s solitary strike prove the difference to hand Slade’s men maximum points, but they fell to 2-0 loss at The Valley in March.
The match will be played week commencing August 13.
