Gianfranco Zola says Watford have yet to make a decision on the two Czech players who linked up with the club this week.

Granada's Daniel Pudil and Udinese's Matej Vydra have been training with Watford since the club returned to pre-season on Tuesday and the pair are expected to join the English club on season-long loans.

However, yesterday Zola told the Watford Observer: "The new players are just training with us and we haven’t made any decisions at the moment, but we will see.

"They are potentially good players so we will see."

Pudil is a 26-year-old left-sided player who can play in midfield or defence and joined Granada from Belgian side Racing Genk.

He was on loan at relegated Serie A side Cesana towards the end of last season and was a late omission from the Czech Republic squad for Euro 2012.

Vydra is a 20-year-old striker who spent most of last season on the sidelines due a knee ligament injury but returned to fitness earlier this year.

He was signed by Udinese for around €4m two years ago after an excellent six-month stint at Banik Ostrava whilst still a 17-year-old.

At least Zola has the chance to see them in training rather than them being offloaded to us

I like the sound of Pudil and being left sided would provide some good balance, but not entirely convinced about the striker...however if anyone can pick out a striker it should be Zola!

hopefully means he is having a good look at what is already there before bringing in someone (who needs to be better)
This makes sense but I cant help feeling the first six months of the season the team will be in a development stage and we shouldnt expect too much.

I'm glad to see the new regime are all talking about the long term as I think all us fans need to be realistic about what this change will actually mean.
Our first season is bound to be tumultuous and I'll be happy with a similar finish to last year.
These new loan signings we'll get could be great (lets not forget we've had a small, young squad for a long time now), I just hope that our leaders aren't thrown out as a result. We still need a core of established players to help any quality progress.
One final word on Sean Dyche (as I haven't posted in a while), I doubted him when he was appointed, was impressed with how he performed and feel sorry for the way he's been treated. I'll certainly clap him when he returns but I guess it's better that the new bosses get rid straight away (if they want to) than let it drag on.
Cheers for the hard work Dychie!

Good to see GZ is already stamping his authority for the final say on players coming in.

It does sound like loan players are not going to be forced on the club which is good, and makes sense all round. If a player is not suited to the team/way of play/championship there is no point him coming over to sit on the bench if that.

Yes - that is positive.

As you say Zola can pick his own players rather than being forced to sign them.

If Udinese saw fit to fork out £3m for Vydra I suspect he may be more than a little useful. Obviously he was unlucky with the knee injury but I expect he'll be very keen to get back on track.....

He's still quite a youngster and stats on Wiki mean very, very little.
