Czech duo Daniel Pudil and Matej Vydra to join Watford from Granada and Udinese

Watford are set to sign Czech duo Daniel Pudil and Matej Vydra on season-long loans from Granada and Udinese.

The Hornets were taken over by the Pozzos two weeks ago and new arrivals from the family's other two clubs were always expected.

The news was broken by Pudil's agent the Chovanec Sport Agency, with Watford, Granada and Udinese yet to make an announcement.

Pudil is a 26-year-old left-sided player who can play in midfield or defence and joined Granada from Belgian side Racing Genk.

He was on loan at relegated Serie A side Cesana towards the end of last season and was a late omission from the Czech Republic squad for Euro 2012.

Vydra is a 20-year-old striker who spent most of last season on the sidelines due a knee ligament injury but returned to fitness earlier this year.

He had expected to remain with Udinese for pre-season but the Italian club decided to loan him out to Watford.

Vydra was signed by Udinese for around €4m two years ago after an excellent six-month stint at Banik Ostrava whilst still a 17-year-old.

You can read comments by the two players and Pudil's agent at Chovanec Sport Agency's website here.

Striker and a left back down. We're off and running! These two are beyond anything we've signed in years. Czech international left back and a £3million striker!

I'm in danger of getting a bit too excited here.

Ahem...Hold it down James. you work from home stop talking to your laptop and giggling hysterically...and indeed talking to yourself in the third person.

I'm going for a lie down.

Both players say that they excited at coming to England, that they do not see Championship as a step down. Vydra was philisophical about not being involved with Udinese for pre season as he understands that there is a lot of talent that is second to De Natale. Pudil says he had a five day trial at Watford 4 or 5 years ago and was impressed with the fans. Both really excited about working with Zola. Vydra speaks good Italian but not much English where as Pudil speaks good English. They both speak highly of Pozzo.

This is exciting. I must go and sit in hte Rous Stand to calm down.

I think Vydra will be eased in gradually due to his knee problem last season. Looks like a great talent though!

But no bad feelings required with this good feel surrounding us!

Vydra says he was set to play in April (but he held back by the club for his own good was the insinuation) so with a good pre season he should/could be ready to play - exciting though whatever and if he can recapture the form that prompted Udinese to fork out 4 million Euros as a 17 year old (thats very big money for a lad of that age on the continent) then could be amazing. Looking forward to the press conference

That's just 2 loan signings so far so we are hardly full of foreigners.
The Pozzos did say that our academy would remain a key part of Watford FC and I see no harm in them fleshing our squad out with some quality continental additions.
Seriously, how can anyone not be excited by what is happening at Watford right now?

Did you say the same when we bought Heidar Helguson?

These signings will surely attract other players (British and Foreign) that want to be part of a club going places. Hopefully allow us to hold onto the likes of Mariappa and Murray too.

Indeed me olde scummer down. Ain't no stopping us now!!!

Let me tell you about something that happend to me the other day. Was sitting in traffic in the west end when I noticed the white van in front of me had one of those stupid stickers in the back window, the one with a scummer supposedly pi55ing on a Watford shirt (right).

Don't quite know what come over me however I became 12 again, managed to negotiate the traffic and got in front of him before we all started to move again at speed, and then WATCHOUT!!!....an imaginary dog ran out in front of me and I had to slam the brakes on causing the scummer to do the same, should have seen his face, flicked him the finger and went our seperate ways.

Anyway, acting my age again...

How long have you hesitated Watford?

Too long. I have been here some five years ago on a five-day internship and I really liked it here. I know that Watford has great fans. And when a few days ago my manager said about this possibility, I welcomed it. It was the wish of

Mr. Pozza, who helped me a lot redeemed me from Genk, otherwise I would have sat on a half **** and you nekopl the balloon. And behind this engagement I still see the opportunity to play in England, which I always dreamed of.

idiot as usual
Excuse me but proof has still not been provided for many if not most of the claims made against LB. If that proof is provided then I will agree I was wrong, until then my statement is perfectly valid and the club being sold does not correlate to all the things said against the man being proven.

Also none of the people who didn't go along with the anti LB campaign were/are against the Pozzo's and are just as happy as any one else about the new ownership and situation. Its the anti LB group who keep propagating the discussion surrounding him which I have to say just shows again the level of childishness involved on their part.

I do find it hypocritical that those that disliked LB based it seems on the fact he was an former bankrupt are embracing with open arms the new owners who have been implicated in murky dealings directly involving football - surely a much bigger concern than a previous bankruptcy?! But there we come to the nub of the issue, LB was disliked because he wasn’t a billionaire and wasn’t able to bankroll the club, now that we have owners with deep pockets their own previous more serious and relevant indiscretions are happily ignored.

I'm not attacking the Pozzo's by the way, just pointing out the anti LB lots hypocrisy. Myself, I like to give the benefit of the doubt and be fair and am looking forward to an apparently exciting future for the club.

As Mickey Quinn asked, what doom mongers?
