Ex-Napoli coach Adolfo Sormani to become Gianfranco Zola's assistant at Watford
8:34am Thursday 5th July 2012 in Latest Football News
By Frank Smith, Deputy Group Sports Editor
Former Napoli coach Adolfo Sormani is set to become Gianfranco Zola's assistant at Watford.
IamNaples.it are reporting Sormani left his position at Napoli after his contract expired on June 30 and that he will be become Zola's assistant at Vicarage Road.
Watford have yet to confirm Zola's appointment despite quotes from owner Giampaolo Pozzo on Monday which stated the former Chelsea forward would be taking charge of the Hornets.
Sormani started his playing career at Napoli and played for a host of Italian clubs, including spells at Parma, Avellino and Sambenedettese.
The 46-year-old has been coaching for a decade and after three years at Juventus, joined Napoli in 2011.

BUT..life goes on, and our club is in the most secure position that it probably been in.
It really is up to the new owners to run the club.
Whether we agree or not is of no importance. None of us own the 3rd best club in Italy who are, as is widely reported one of the most financially secure clubs in football .. anywhere.
We have survived years of uncertainty, being on the brink of extinction several times, sometime I wonder how we survived ...
I for one am going to enjoy what has come to our club.. still have to pinch myself that this is happening.
Look to the future .. never has it been so bright !!

He has good experience, I think he has the basics in English at least. Zola English is excellent so whats the problem?
He has been in the lower divisions in Italy,so knows how to scrap to get out of the division.
He was at Juve when they were in eerie b for the season and helped them go straight beck up.
As long as he can ask "where is ristorante Italiano Please?" we be ok.

Udinese dont just scout Europe and Africa they are also have extensive scouting and recruiting history in South America. The suggestion that they will not spend on the stadium is conjecture as Udinese's ground is council owned so it is not a club asset and even so they are still looking at the possiblity of development - would you pay for a house you didnt own but only rented?
In terms of them spending on players - they do but where Udinese's niche is, is in buying potential (relatively cheaply), developing it over 3 to 4 years and then selling the finished article to top tier clubs for top dollar - and then reinvesting in more potential/developmen
t based players. This is exactly the same methodology of Ajax, Arsenals Wenger period and Newcastle of the last two seasons.
This is also dare I say it the Watford way but being able to draw on a more extensive scouting pool and with added clout.
Udinese do tend to recruit a lot of players at relatively small (still big for Watford) fees but not all of them make it like Sanchez or Gokhan Inler.
Just because someone doesnt pay £30 million for one player does not mean that they do not BUY players - there is more than one football club model.

Whether SD has agreed severance pay, or even been sacked, that is no barrier to a club making and announcing the appointment of a new manager. In recent years we've seen many examples of managers put on gardening leave until severance has been negotiated and new managers coming in pretty much immediately. Didn’t it take Phil Brown six months to sort out his deal with Hull?
As Hemel Swiss mentioned, the delay is more likely to be due to waiting for football league approval. How long does that take?
By the same token we have had that statement the other day and it seems a pretty open 'secret' that SD is/has left and Zola is coming in and the Italian press seem to be getting briefed from somewhere. I'm thinking this is just a blip but do hope we start getting some actual information soon.

As far as I aware Dyche has not been sacked as yet - all that has been reported is that he has been relieved of his manager's duties and this has been translated into being sacked / left the club. This may become the case but until anything has been confirmed it is all conjecture. Presumably the reason we have not been informed directly what is happening regarding the manager is due to the fact that this is still under negotiation and may or may not include SD in some capacity. Certainly he has not been touting his wares around other clubs as yet which I am sure would be the case if he had already been sacked and left the club.

I cant wait for the start of the new season now. I must admit for various reasons I was unsure whether to sign up for another season ticket this year, but very pleased I did now. I CAN however wait for news from the club. Buying a club and getting your feet under the table and organised is surely no small matter, and although news is nice to hear I am sure we will hear it when appropriate and when it is confirmed and correct - in contrast to a recent balbbermouth who does not need to be named. I think the general concencus is that its a shame for Dyche to leave, but he wil get a decent payoff and a position elsewhere. Dont think that if he had another good season and was offered a bigger job elsewhere he wouldnt have taken it, and who would blame him? This is football, and Dyche and anyone else has been in it for long enough to know the ropes. Good luck Sean, but lets all move on and 100% behind what is happening at our club now. It could be an exciting time and they have been in short supply in the last few years. COYH!!!!
