Andronikou: ‘Watford provide the Pozzos with a platform to introduce their formula to the UK’

One of the men who helped negotiate the takeover of Watford claims the club “provides the Pozzo football dynasty with a secure platform to introduce its successful formula to the UK”.

The Watford Observer revealed this morning that the Pozzo family’s takeover of Watford had been completed.

Giampaolo Pozzo, whose son Gino helps run his football operations, has owed Udinese since 1986 and took over Granada in 2009.

Granada have climbed from the Spanish third division to La Liga since the Pozzos’ takeover, with the help of a host of Udinese loan players.

And Andrew Andronikou, who advised the Hornets on the sale, said: "We are delighted to have ensured that Watford's immediate future is safe.

"The family have a proven track record of building successful teams on the field, and balancing the books off it."

Andronikou added: "This transaction is a significant one, as it provides the Pozzo football dynasty with a secure platform to introduce its successful formula to the UK."

- Just to warn our readers in advance, we will be unable to upload or alter articles for at least ten hours from around 6.45pm tonight (Friday) due to pre-planned maintenance work across the entire Newsquest network of websites. The comment function may also be unavailable until Saturday afternoon.

We will hopefully have a Twitter feed embedded into the website though to keep you updated with regards to the latest news and sport.

The sale is reported all over the place, except one. The official site. Why? Someone locked the club computer in the safe with Bazs pen?

This report seems to be a cut and paste job from the BBC's story.

Great news but my only worry is this androniku was found to be not the most honest of guys dealing with pompey and hope his involvment has now ended.

Androniku was from the administrators so not sure about being dishonest but it may well point to what a god awful position we were in!
On another note could this site not put off the work being done until another day as plenty is going on and there is no point in relying on the club website which still hasn't reported the news!

Hmm just one note of caution....nothing on the Udinese website yet and they did say quite categorically on the 19th that any announcement would 'occur exclusively through their communication company'. Just don't want anything to go wrong now.

Hang on, if he had been dishonest you can be sure he would've been struck off from his professional body.

... he's an accountant, you can't simply hold him responsible for the dodgy deals and decisions that Portsmouths directors made.

Bringe androniku was brought in as administrator at pompey but when trevor birch took over he found an even worse set of affairs. Also it was rumoured very strongly that he was trying to sell players behind the clubs back. Just hope he's done his bit now and gone.

Bringe says...
5:01pm Fri 29 Jun 12

lol if he was trying to sell behind their backs he'd be trying to balance the books and as administrator it should be his decision anyway.

LE PARK says...
5:59pm Fri 29 Jun 12

Knew you would come out with that. All im saying is that when the present administration took over from androniku they found alot of discrepancies down to him and the books were indeed cooked. End of your boring me

Incredible- we have proper football people in charge for once. Not greedy opportunists or clowns from Stanmore. I don't care if we become a feeder, we've been playing with loaned players for years.

A big thank you to the Pozzo family for saving WFC from Administration. Unpaid bills, unpaid wages, unpaid HMRC.
Wonder where all the money went...i thought bassini had a bank account where all the money from the sale of players had gone.

My Comment wasn't meant as a dig to tonupchris i was just stating an opinion to help understand why we wouldn't be able to Post (sorry about that)
I too used to work for newsquest (the wobby) many years ago and although the content is managed locally, standard maintenance work was sometimes done for the whole company back in the day ... Not that it matters tho ....
Really must remember not to have an opinion on this site in fear of the abuse .. Ha ha

What did Fatty MacPie say about wanting to compete for a top ten place, do do we now Fatty...in the Prem.
