  • "Would be gutted to see SD shown the door but if you spent approx £20 million to buy a club you'd want your own manager in. SD will get his contract paid up and get another job soon so he is a winner as well.............
Funny how Baz is not to ill to do the odd interview now...."

Pozzo family's takeover of Watford is 'imminent'

The Pozzo family's takeover of Watford is extremely close to completion, the Watford Observer understands.

A source close to negotiations refused to state a specific time frame, as there are still a few small details to iron out, but told us the takeover was "imminent".

Watford are set to join Italian club Udinese and Spanish side Granada in being owned by the Pozzo family.

The Pozzos have been interested in Watford for several months and current owner Laurence Bassini finally admitted he was looking to sell the club ten days ago, after denying the Italians' interest on several occasions previously.

It will be Giampaolo's son Gino who will run the club and has been the one involved directly in negotiations.

Former West Ham United chief executive Scott Duxbury has been part of the negotiating team working for the Pozzos and could become the Hornets' chief executive.

Ex-West Ham technical director Gianluca Nani is also expected to have a role at Watford.

Duxbury and Nani worked with former Chelsea forward Gianfranco Zola at Upton Park and we believe it is the Pozzos' intention to make Zola manager.
