Watford will make no comment on Troy Deeney's future at this time

Watford say they will not be making any comment regarding Troy Deeney's prison sentence at this time.

The Hornets striker was sentenced to ten months in prison for affray at Birmingham Crown Court this afternoon.

A statement on the club website reads: "Watford FC wishes to confirm that it is fully aware of sentencing relating to Troy Deeney, passed at Birmingham Crown Court today (Monday June 25, 2012).

Neither the club, nor individual officials, will be making any comment at this time.

The club will issue a further, fuller statement within the next few days."

Probably wait to hear what the Pozzo family will say if they take-over.

He will probably be roughed up by a few Mafia types inside

Did really well last season, probably my favourite player through his effort but never want him to play for the club again. Kicking someone in the head while they are on the ground can't be excused

Sack him. I do not want that sort of person playing for my family club.

I suppose you would rather have Marlon King or Joey Barton.

Just sack him, his contract will be nearly finished when he comes out anyway! We don`t need or want that sort of person at the club.

Don't be a Tw@t,he will be out by the end of August, and WFC Knew of this some time ago,and he was given a further year on his contract, and WFC have supported him by giving him a further contract. This trial has been a long time coming to court. We signed King knowing his background.Tony Coton also had a fight with Mick Hartford years back that saw injuries.Troy was keeping out of it if you read the case, but saw red once his brother got involved..I welcome Troy back with a fresh start and a lesson learned!!

I have read the report fully .. I say sack him, kicking a defenseless person in the head ... inexcusable -- lucky he wasnt up for Manslaughter, these students were outnumbered -- why did his brother even become involved? Because of events happening at home .. even worse ! Alcohol and a temper issue not a great mix

the only plus here is that the senior club officials would have surely made a statement unless they do not expect to be senior club officials in the next few days - ie the takeover looks likely to happen.

Also - would sacking Deeney diminish the club's value by circa £400k? Another reason to keep him on the books for another week or so?

If this was on the football pitch, it would be a fine and a lengthy ban, like Joey Barton, but since its off the field, its a prison sentence, its a stupid rule. He's still young, he makes mistakes, like all of us HUMANS. A certain Marlon King was a criminal, but you probably wanted to keep him. I say he will learn his lesson, and hopefully be let out early. But, I not saying what he did was right.

So does that mean an unofficial official statement or an official unofficial statement that they won't be making......at this time?
