Watford agree kit supplier deal with Puma

Puma will be Watford's kit supplier from next season after agreeing a three-year contract with the club, we understand.

The Hornets will announce this morning that Puma have become their "official license and technical partner" and will produce the club's kit, training wear and a range of merchandise.

Watford will announce who their new club sponsor is in the forthcoming weeks and the new home and away kit will be on sale in early August - although fans will be able to see the strips by late July.

Raj Athwal, the Hornets’ commercial director, said: "Both Watford FC and Puma share similar values and we’re certain our players and fans will embrace the new kit designs and wear them with pride.

"Puma has great credibility in the football market – through its product designs and innovations, and marketing communications. This is a good partnership for us."

Puma's client list includes the national sides of Italy, Uruguay and a host of African countries as well as players like Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure.

Roger Harrison, Puma's UK marketing director, added: "This new partnership with Watford FC is another positive move for Puma, as we continue to reinforce our position as the number three football brand.

"Watford FC has a rich heritage and strong fan base, and we have some exciting marketing plans for the coming months. We are looking forward to a long collaboration with the club."

At least we will have a decent kit for once

Finally! We have a kit made by a sports brand that people will actually want to buy / wear / be seen in.

This is especially important for the younger fans where brands are everything - somehow i could never imagine Kit@ or Burrda cutting it in the playground. The benefit to the club will hopefully be more revenue

Look forward to seeing the kits and the training wear

Great, but where’s the call for a return to yellow & black…

Who cares as long as it's black shorts and a prominent red and black stripe! Too much red going on lately- they look like Noddy.

I like the yellow and red. Also, it's important to be as conspicuous as possible in all light conditions, so that team-mates can see you out of the corner of their eye. Sometimes you can hardly make the away side out.

Remember when Man U lost to Southampton, and Alex blamed it on the grey kit? They never wore it again.

Crumbs, you actually believed what fergie said ?

Sorry, but given the choice (and we were a few years ago), the majority of fans opted for black shorts…

Its only the Puma logo apparently reading the Club release. Very odd move to go back to the firm who are representing Puma (Genesis) who apparently won over half a million quid in damages when we dumped the dreadful KIT@ deal a few years ago. Judging by the hideous identikit designs below they haven't moved on much!! At least with Burrda we had some unique kits that no other clubs were wearing. The red and black away kit two years ago was the best we've ever had and the first home kit was really nice too. Lets hope the club have insisted on a bespoke design rather than the same lack of imagination all their other clubs seems to have

Lighten up son, they're not words they are abrieviations (means they are not words, get it)??
Joe Strummer never had a sense of humour either, he Clashed with everyone...

I'm not kidding but the way you talk, 'would actually want to wear, or be seen in' is appalling, if you support a team, wear there kit, cos it shows that you only care about the name, you don't support the team.

But Lloyd, surely you can see the point. From a marketing perspective having a well known brand name front the kit manufacture will in turn increase revenue for the club on the merchandising front. It's all about looking after tomorrow....today

Strummer was posh public schoolboy acting up, just like this one acts like a football fan! Both fakes.

Yes finally a decent kit make! All these pants brands that come and go are okay for the season but then you never want to wear them again... Hopefully there is some decent clobber cos I'll buy training gear and all sorts :-)
