Russell Slade has called for a reaction from his O’s team as they look to get back to winning ways in the festive period.

Following a 3-0 defeat to MK Dons on Boxing Day, there is little time for respite for Orient as they return to action with the visit of table-toppers Charlton Athletic tomorrow before a trip to sixth-placed Stevenage two days later.

Christmas is always a busy time for clubs but when the fixtures were drawn in the summer, this fortnight was always going to be a real test for the O’s.

Having lost the first of their three games in the space of a week, Slade is looking for his side to bounce back against the Addicks in front of the Sky Sports cameras on New Year’s Eve.

“It is a tougher game,” said the manager. “We are really going to have to role our sleeves up.

“We need a reaction quickly but the game does come quickly so maybe that is a blessing.”

It will be a tall order to topple near-neighbours Charlton though, with Chris Powell’s side looking an unstoppable force in their quest for a return to the Championship.

Athletic have lost just once on the road this season in League One, that being their only defeat in the league.

Couple that impressive statistic with nine victories and just two draws away from The Valley and we can see that the Addicks are a formidable force on the road.

Orient will be looking to rectify two disappointing results against Saturday’s opposition from last season, with both fixtures ending in 3-1 defeat for Slade’s side.
