DARTFORD boss Tony Burman admits the FA Trophy draw has not been kind to his side after they were handed an away tie at Gateshead.

George Purcell booked the Darts’ place in the hat by scoring the only goal in Saturday’s second round 1-0 success at Ashford.

But now Burman will have to lead his squad to the north east after Dartford were paired with Conference side Gateshead in Monday's draw.

The manager said: “It was really the one game we didn’t want but will come to terms with it quickly and get on with it.

“We wanted a home draw but now we find ourselves having to go to the other end of the country.

“Maybe it is a game where we will have to stay up there overnight but the preparation will be right.”

Dartford’s main priority this season is survival in the league and Burman is determined to put a stop to the club’s poor home form when they host Farnborough at Princes Park this weekend.

“They are one of the better sides in this division having seen them a couple of times this year already,” the manager added.

“But we’ve got to concentrate on our own situation and get those three points.

“Our home record isn’t what our fans have been used to in the last four or five years of continual success but now is not the time to be negative about it because we all need to pull together and start climbing the table.”

Dartford needed a late equaliser from James White to rescue a home point against Staines in a 1-1 draw.

The result keeps Darts in the bottom three, one point frrom safety behind St Albans.
