NO WIN in seven games is taking its toll on the players inside the Orient changing room, says boss Geraint Williams.
The east Londoners were toothless against Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on Tuesday night, slipping to a 2-0 defeat.
It was not the response Williams had demanded after Saturday’s disappointing display at MK Dons.
Orient had most of the possession, but the striking pair of Jonathan Téhoué and James Scowcroft hardly troubled their relegation rivals.
Williams was frank.
“I am concerned we haven’t won enough games after a good spell in January and February. That confidence has waned.
“We really battled after the goals but we never really got at them,” he said.
“The lads have put in a good shift, but we didn’t quite have enough quality in their 18-yard box.”
Deane Smalley put the hosts ahead on 20 minutes, then Dale Stephens struck four minutes after half-time to seal the points.
“I am very disappointed as I thought we started very brightly and positively.
"Then (we) conceded a goal early in that first half and to compound that, a goal early in the second half,” added Williams.
The defeat leaves Orient 16th in League One, six points off the drop-zone.
