Leyton Orient chief executive Alessandro Angelieri insists owner Francesco Becchetti is not interested in selling the club.

Reports circulated in the last month claiming the Italian wanted to sell the club less than a year after taking over following their relegation to League Two.

But speaking after new head coach Ian Hendon was unveiled this afternoon, Angelieri underlined Becchetti's commitment to the club.

When asked about the rumours, the O's chief executive replied: "It surprised me and also the president. It's like the fake news that sometimes we read in the newspaper or the television.

"The president absolutely doesn't want to sell the club. He wants to continue to go forward and wants to win because he doesn't like to lose like all businessmen.

"He will try, with Ian and a new start and many new players, to have a good season. We have expectation in two or three years to go up to one or two leagues minimum.

"This year we want to immediately get promotion. We cannot stay in this league another year. We want to go up to League One immediately and in two years we will try to go into the Championship because this is the expectation of the president."
