West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce bemoaned referee Jon Moss’ timekeeping after a late Harry Kane goal denied the Hammers a win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Leading 2-0 with ten minutes remaining, the Hammers looked set to take all three points before Spurs rallied to earn a dramatic draw as Kane converted the rebound from his saved penalty.

However, Allardyce felt the full-time whistle should have been blown directly after Adrian had saved the striker’s 96th minute spot kick.

Allardyce told BBC Sport: “He (referee Jon Moss) wouldn’t be brave enough to do that at home would he?

“He will say there was still two seconds left. He will say when the penalty was taken, there were five seconds, when the rebound came off there were three seconds.”

Goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Diafra Sakho appeared to have settled the game before Danny Rose struck and Kane went down in the box under pressure from Alex Song. It was Kane’s 24th goal of a hugely impressive season but Allardyce felt the 21-year-old had fallen over in a “desperate” act.

“From our point of view Alex needs to keep his hands off him because he is going to feel that contact and he is going to take to the floor. He’s got to,” Allardyce said.

“Whether it’s the right decision or not, it’s just the way football is today if we learn anything by it, we have to do the same as what Tottenham do more often.

“We stay on our feet and don’t get fouls and they get touched and go down and do get fouls.”

The draw extends West Ham’s winless run in the Premier League to four games and continues to muddy the waters surrounding Allardyce’s future at the club.
