Dartford boss Tony Burman believes his side’s lack of concentration is letting them down after their latest defeat at Altrincham on Saturday.

Damian Reeves got a brace for the home side with goals either side of the interval, before Elliot Bradbrook struck a late consolation for the visitors.

Burman bemoaned his team’s luck in the opening stages of the game, but knows their lack of focus was the reason for the defeat.

He said: “In the first five minutes I think on another day we could have been two goals up.

“We played alright for 20 minutes and then just a little lapse in concentration at a set piece and we go a goal down.

“Unfortunately that’s what happens in this league.

“You have to take your chances when you get them, especially away from home.

“We have shot ourselves in the foot yet again when we came out in the second half and conceded a goal early on and it’s very disappointing when that happens.”

Despite blaming the two moments of loss in concentration for the defeat, Burman conceded the performance as a whole was not worthy of a win.

The boss said: “You have got to play for the full 45, 48 minutes or whatever it is and you have to be alert and ready.

“Unfortunately the performance was very lacklustre from us again.

“I was disappointed with the result, simply because Altrincham are a part-time side, we are a part-time side and they are the games you need to get something from.

“Even if it is a draw away from home, that is something, but to lose it is very disappointing.”

After defeat against a newly-promoted opponent, Burman knows full well his side need to start picking up points against the teams who will be near them in table come the end of the season.

The Princes Park chief said: “When we play teams who are in and around us or are part time and you’re on the same level, then they are games that you try and get some points from.

“Telford were near us and we beat them at home and we have got to Altrincham and I think we should be looking at a minimum of coming away with a point.

“It was not to be and it was very lacklustre from us I am afraid.”

Dartford host Eastleigh tomorrow evening and Burman is hoping for a reaction from his players.

“I am looking for a response to the result and the performance and that is what we will always look to do,” the boss added.

“We have to move on, there’s nothing we can do about the game at Altrincham now.

“We have to try and win our home games and we will endeavour to do that yet again. We will get a response from the players.”
