Leyton Orient face a trip to Johnstone's Paint Trophy holders Peterborough United in the first round of the competition tonight.

It will be the first meeting between the sides since the O's edged to an unforgettable 3-2 win on aggregate over the Posh in May's play-off semi-final.

Peterborough have made an impressive start to the season and are the early leaders in League 1.

Russell Slade is likely to be without Elliot Omozusi, for the televised tie, after he was taken off with a heavy kick to the foot in the draw at Fleetwood Town.

The O's will probably make a number of changes and there could be opportunities in the side for players such as Gary Woods, Shane Lowry and Chris Dagnall.

Orient boss Slade said: "It's the third one on the bounce away from home so we look forward to that one as well. I will probably be forced to make a few more changes because despite having a stronger squad than last year it's being tested to the limit right now.

"We know it will be a tough game. They're a good side and I'm sure it will be entertaining to play them so early in the season in a cup competition.

"We have the squad to progress in different competitions and it helps because we can make one or two changes. But at the minute we are being stretched. There's probably four that are struggling a little bit out of a group of 20 so we have to be careful we don't lose too many more."
