Millwall goalkeeper Stephen Bywater has joined League One side Gillingham on loan until January 3.
The former Sheffield Wednesday stopper joined the Lions under former boss Steve Lomas last year and has since made nine appearances.
And Bywater has joined as cover for Gills number one Stuart Nelson, who is likely to be out for six weeks with a thumb injury he picked up against MK Dons last weekend.
Bywater was on the bench for Tuesday’s Capital One Cup first round victory and has now joined the Gills with a view to making his debut at home to Yeovil Town on Saturday.
The 33-year-old has yet to feature for Millwall this season with youth goalkeeper, Denzel Gerrar, now likely to fill the void left after Bywater’s loan swap.
