West Ham are considering a move for Monaco’s Lacina Traore, with Andy Carroll’s fitness becoming an increasing concern for manager Sam Allardyce.
According to the Daily Mail, Allardyce has identified striker Traore as a potential target after Carroll sustainined an ankle injury on the Hammers’ tour of New Zealand.
The £15m England striker was forced to sit out Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to A-League side Wellington Phoenix.
Traore, who is 6ft8in, almost joined the Hammers in January but opted to move to Everton on loan instead.
The 23-year-old scored once in two outings for the Toffees during an injury-plagued stay on Merseyside.
Carroll’s West Ham career has been hampered by fitness problems, with the Gateshead-born forward making just 16 appearances last season as a result of a serious heel injury.
Hammers boss Allardyce has already completed deals for forwards Mauro Zarate and Enner Valencia but is open to the idea of adding another attacker to his squad.
