Ian Holloway will not be pursuing his initial interest in signing French trialist Jean-Eudes Maurice.
The 28-year-old had been on trial with the Lions and played in a behind closed doors squad friendly on Saturday.
But he was nowhere to be seen in last night’s 1-0 warm up success at Dartford and the Millwall boss confirmed afterwards Maurice’s brief stay at the club was over - although the Den chief rejected the suggestion it was because the player wasn’t good enough.
“I don’t really want to say that about anybody but what I’m looking for is very specific,” the manager explained.
“With his age and where he is I didn’t want to waste any more of his time because to be honest with you it is a very tough standard I want to try and bring here because some of those kids I believe they can play.
“If Fred Onyedinma has looked a bit sharper and better than him then the boy (Maurice) isn’t going to get a chance, is he?
“So in fairness to him I’d rather work with Fred at the moment and I knew that so he (Maurice) has got a bit of a tough task on his hands to be fair.”
