Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade insisted his side should have won more comfortably after a 1-0 victory at Stevenage this afternoon.

An early Dean Cox goal made the difference but the visitors controlled the game and had numerous opportunities to add to their lead.

Slade said: "I thought we defended in the main very well. Obviously they're a big side so they are a problem from a corner or a free-kick but we managed to keep them out on that score and other than that really my goalkeeper wasn't troubled too much.

"On the other side of the game, going forward I thought we were excellent. We created a lot of chances and the only disappointment is we didn't score more goals."

Orient handed a debut to Millwall loanee Shaun Batt and the striker made an impressive start to his spell for the club. Batt is available for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and is likely to start Tuesday night's home leg against Southend United.

Slade said: "He's got that pace and is an awkward customer. He's not played an awful lot of games but he was a constant threat throughout the game to be honest. My plan was always to bring him off after 65 minutes because he's not had so many games and may well play some part in Tuesday's match."
