Sevilla and Spain striker Alvaro Negredo puts Tottenham Hotspur on alert with Premier League plea

Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo has put Tottenham on alert after the Spanish hitman expressed his desire to move to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old has been one of La Liga's most consistent performers in recent seasons, scoring 46 goals in 76 appearances, and is well-known for his combative style of play.
Negredo has been linked with a move away from cash-strapped Sevilla and he now appears to be encouraging interest from the Premier League.
"The Premier League is a great competition, I really like it and I think my style of football would be well-suited to it," he said.
"There comes a time when a cycle comes to an end and I don’t know whether my time will be sooner or later. I haven’t thought about it a lot but I wouldn’t mind playing abroad."
Sevilla's financial problems mean they are keen to offload their prize assets and, while president Jose Maria del Nido said recently there isn't a necessity to sell Negredo, it is believed the striker could be allowed to leave for as little as £15m.
Were a bid to be accepted the Sevilla forward says he would be happy to consider a move to England after receiving glowing reports from his Spanish teammates.
He said: "I’ve spoken to the guys playing in England, mainly when we were together at Euro 2012 because we had a lot of free time. I spoke to Mata and Torres and I know they really enjoy it.
"They have a different way of experiencing football over there compared with Spain.
"The players say it is easier to go out and about there. Here, it is quite difficult to leave the house but they say there is not as much scrutiny in England, and I like that."
Tottenham enquired about Negredo's availability in January 2011 but were knocked back and since then their interest has cooled.
Internacional's Leandro Damiao is believed once again to be top of Daniel Levy's wish list but Negredo's comments could well grab Tottenham's attention.
