Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade praised his team for a "terrific effort" after they defeated Yeovil Town 1-0 with ten men to reach the southern area final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The O's will face local rivals Southend United in a two legged tie next month to decide which side reaches the final at Wembley.

Orient were reduced to ten men when Anthony Griffith was sent off for a second booking but David Mooney headed in a 90th minute winner to seal a memorable victory at Brisbane Road.

Slade said: "It meant a lot to the supporters. We're a game away or a contest away from playing at Wembley. It's great to get into the southern final.

"Of course it meant a lot for me and the fans. To get that goal with ten men was just amazing really. It was a terrific effort by the team.

"It looked like we weren't getting decisions and then we lose the man on the pitch and go down to ten men and you think everything is swinging Yeovil's way. But we rolled our sleeves up that little bit further and got on with the task at hand and delivered the goods."
