Rosler fumes over Southend replay
4:10pm Monday 7th January 2013 in Latest Football News By Stuart Amos
Brentford will have a potential FA Cup fourth round home clash with Chelsea on their minds when they face Southend United in a replay next week, but boss Uwe Rosler reckons it should already have been a done deal.
The Bees had one foot in the next round when they went 2-0 up at the League Two Shrimpers on Saturday, through goals from Tom Adeyemi and a Ryan Cresswell own goal.
But they were pegged back by a Barry Corr brace that will see the two teams go head-to-head at Griffin Park on January 15.
Roslers’ men then drew a home clash with the European champions in the next round should they get past Southend.
And the Brentford chief was left fuming the game should have to be replayed in the wake of Corr’s contentious second strike.
“It was two metres, one-and-a half metres, at least offside. I want to see the referee, but I'm not allowed to go in for half an hour after the final whistle,” he said in the aftermath of Saturday’s stalemate.
“The linesman just said sorry, but it is not good enough.
“It is another game for us on our schedule.
“It is not good enough for him to just put up his hand and say sorry.
“We are professionals and expect the referee and linesmen to be professional as well.
“It is about jobs and income for the club. It's not a Mickey Mouse competition.
“It is the FA Cup, which is a glorious competition and we take it very seriously.
“We'll have to do it the hard way, like we did against Bradford. But Southend are good. Tomlin up front is an excellent player.”
