A first minute goal sent West Ham United to a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United this evening in the Premier League.

Robin Van Persie scored the fastest goal of the season, after just 31 seconds, when his shot was deflected into the net. 

Carlton Cole and Modibo Maiga went close in the second half but the Hammers could not avoid a second defeat in a row.
