Watford have crashed out of the FA Youth Cup after Leeds United left Vicarage Road with a 4-0 win.

First half strikes from Luke Parkin along with two further Leeds goals in the second half sealed the ‘Orns fate.

The visitors started the better of the two sides but Watford had the first half chance after six minutes. A long kick from goalkeeper Daniel Wilks found striker Bernard Mensah but Whites keeper Eric Grimes gathered the ball before the Hornets striker.

Leeds then found their way towards goal. Chris Dawson fed the ball to Kalvin Phillips who shot over.

The visitors went very close to opening the scoring after 11 minutes; Phillips found space at the back post but his effort hit the post and Watford were able to clear.

However it wasn’t long until Leeds took the lead. Luke Parkin found space on the right-hand side of the box and managed to fire past Watford keeper Wilks from 15 yards to make it 1-0 after 13 minutes.

Just after the half hour mark the Whites doubled their advantage. Watford failed to deal with a Leeds attack and Parkin was on hand to put the ball past Wilks from close range.

The Whites had a chance to make it 3-0 going in to the half-time break as on 37 minutes Dawson had a shot that went narrowly wide.

At the interval Watford made a change as Kamaron English was replaced by Alex Jakbiak.

The Hornets almost found their way back into the game from the kick off as Ollie Cox had a shot that was cleared off the line.

Soon after United have another chance to put the game to bed but they fire just over the bar.

Watford made their second sub as Kurtis Cumberbatch replaced Ryan Hope.

Leeds sealed the victory on 57 minutes when Lewis Walters showed great composure from close range to slot the ball past Wilks.

Mensah almost found a way back for Watford after he broke past the Leeds defence but he was caught up after being sent wide and the Hornets couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.

Walters has a chance for his second of the night when he got on the end of a Dawson free-kick. His header was well saved by Wilks and Walters put the rebound over the bar.

Leeds made it 4-0 with just over a quarter of an hour left when captain Alex Mowatts shot towards goal took a deflection off Watford sub Cumberbatch and flew into the top corner.

Leeds won a free kick after 76 minutes but Phillips effort went on to the roof of the net.

Mensah had another chance when his left footed shot from outside the box was on target but Grimes saved with ease.

Mensah went close in the final moments as his shot from 18 yards was saved by Grimes and went out for a corner.

The Hornets will be disappointed to have left the competition at this early stage and will be hoping to bounce back in the league.
