Watford’s head of medical Marco Cesarini has confirmed that Almen Abdi has dislocated his shoulder, but was keen to emphasise that the midfielder won’t be out for too long.
The Swiss international fell awkwardly on his shoulder at Leeds on Saturday after scoring the second goal in the 6-1 win and was withdrawn from the action on a stretcher as a result.
“Almen’s having a scan today (Wednesday), but we’re confident the injury won’t mean a lengthy absence,” Cesarini told Watford’s official website.
Cesarini also provided further updates on other members of the Hornets squad who are currently sidelined.
Captain John Eustace is back at London Colney as he works his way back to fitness following a back operation.
Defender Nyron Nosworthy will see a specialist in the near future as he continues his rehab following a hamstring problem.
Prince Buaben, also out with a hamstring problem, continues his own rehabilitation and has now begun jogging.
Brazilian defender Neuton has also begun jogging on grass after turning his ankle in training, while another hamstring injury victim, Fitz Hall, returned to first-team training today after missing the last two games.
Ross Jenkins continues to make steady progress following a hip injury but Alex Geijo is not thought to be a doubt after complaining of a sore hamstring following Saturday’s win.

Hopefully Abdi will only be out for a couple of games, giving someone else an opportunity to see what they can do.

We will miss Abdi as he is quality, the decision Zola has is what 5 he puts across the middle? Maybe Cassetti, Murray, Hogg, Bottachino, Chaloboah? With Hoban, Ekstrand, Doyley at the back?
Maybe subs: Bond, Deeney, Forestieri, Smith, Franchone, Anya, Yeates?

I really think if we can keep within touching distance of the current top 6 and come January when hopefully we have a fully fit squad just maybe this could be a real automatic promotion push!

Yep for me Vydra and Geijo should start the next game! I think there qualities can compliment each of them to provide an exceptional front pairing! Re Saturday, Wolves still have quite a strong side and will pose a threat going forward. Therefore, I expect Pudil to return on left (can't play him in centre midfield too one-footed) with Yeates or Hogg replacing Abdi and plenty of fire-power on the bench whoever starts with Vydra up front..

Abdi has been our best / most consistent player to date and will be sorely missed, however good to hear injury is not likely to be too lengthy.

I would like to see Hogg replace him rather than Yeates as he is more combatative which we will need against Wolves.
