FOOTBALLERS from Millwall FC have kicked off a new campaign to stop people going hungry and fans are urged to do the same.
Supporters are asked to bring non-perishable food to games to stock a foodbank for emergency relief in south London.
The next home game where fans can bring items such as tinned food, pasta, cereals and UHT milk is against Leeds on November 18.
A community bus from Peckham Foodbank will be at the game and will collect the food for families in need.
Millwall Captain Paul Robinson said: "It is good to be able to help local people in need in such a simple way.
“Millwall fans have always been tremendously generous and the players are happy to do their bit too by bringing food items along to The Den at home games.
"Hopefully the Peckham Foodbank will be able to support more families through our small contribution."
A sister foodbank in Lewisham is currently being set up.
