Gino Pozzo says he won't jeopardise Watford's future in search of Premier League football

Watford co-owner Gino Pozzo has stressed his family will not jeopardise the club's future in an attempt to reach the Premier League.
The Pozzo family took over Watford in the summer to take their tally of clubs to three following their previous acquisition of Udinese and Granada.
Pozzo said: "Football is a long-term project. You never know what is going to happen in one or two years. That is not a time frame where you are able to develop a plan.
"You definitely need a long-term approach and you have to be able to change your vision depending on how things develop, as there is a difference between being in the Championship and being in the Premier League.
"We are definitely going to aim for the Premier League but we do not want to jeopardise the club’s finance or the way the club is run to do it. Sometimes when you push things too much, it just will not work in the long term.
"We definitely want to build something that is going to be stable in the Premier League and in order to do that, you have got to do things one step at a time and that is our objective.
"I think this is a club that can grow much further in the Premier League and can be a club where we can recognise our values and can grow our values inside the club."
Pozzo's comments were made during an interview with the Watford Observer on Wednesday. Part one of the interview is in this week's paper which is on sale now.

I still think we are good enough to get it, but thinking more rationally , this season would be too soon .
Much better as GZ said, to adjust this year, strengthen the team then have a good go next year and enjoy some measure of superiority over the opposition, not a year of struggle in the prem with an emerging side!
The Pozzos understand this ( as a fan it's easy to get carried away) and have their feet firmly on the ground.
We as Watford fans should thank our lucky stars the Pozzos chose us!
With Nani And Duxbury at the helm our club couldn't be in better hands

The Pozzo take over came at the right time both financially and time wise - this is going to be a tight league with any of the current top 16 clubs still withing touching distance of promotion and with the players we have this is the best we've looked for 6 years!
For me the Premier Leauges bottom 6 clubs are poor with little resources so if promotion was achieved this season then we could compeate unlike our two previous attempts!
I'm happy personally if we have a top 8 finish and push on next season to get automatic promotion with a more settled squad with the best 6/7 loan players being signed permenantly and adding a couple of quality signings!
Hopefully this will be the case and in a few years time we can be a premier league side with a new east stand and with attendances of over 20,000 every week! :-)

I would not be surprised to see us pushing for a European slot within the next 5 seasons.

Rome may not be the best analogy as it all came crashing down

Premiership or not, I think we are getting our money's worth in terms of the entertainment on offer.

Just read the observer and having attended the forum can only conclude this is the real thing. I love the football we are working at playing, so much so I do not want to miss a game.
If Millwalls game is to be deemed poor, then it shows how much fans expectations have risen.

It's looking rosy chaps!
