Watford manager Sean Dyche loses out to Reading's Brian McDermott for Manager of the Month

An unbeaten March has not proved enough for Watford boss Sean Dyche to win the Championship Manager of the Month after he was pipped to the award by Brian McDermott.

Dyche led the Hornets to five wins in seven games and an excellent points tally of 17 out of a possible 21 to leave his side six points outside of the play-offs going into this afternoon's clash with Blackpool at Vicarage Road.

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins was also shortlisted but it was the Reading manager who took the accolade for a second time this season, having previously won it in February.

The Royals did pick up two more points than Watford last month and moved above West Ham United into the second automatic promotion spot. However, they played one more game and were also beaten by Peterborough United.

In my earlier post I said I would rather SD won manager of the month in April and not March. Game on! I can see a Leeds win today.

Pipped I would called robbed, surely he achieved more than McDermott? Still I don't think anyone saw this run at the beginning of March.
