Yannick Bolasie felt hard done by after Crystal Palace were denied a share of the spoils by a late winner from Southampton’s Sadio Mane on Tuesday.

The Eagles headed to the south coast on the back of an impressive 3-1 success at West Ham and looked on course to secure at least a point until Mane settled the game in Saints’ favour seven minutes from time.

Bolasie said: “I think three points on Saturday (v West Ham) was good but I wanted to get something from the Southampton game definitely.

“We all wanted something.

“Even though we won against West Ham, the result tonight means it feels like we’re still just stuck in the same place.

“I think we deserved a point.

“They dominated in the first half but in the second period we had the better chances and created more.

“It’s a disappointing goal to concede and I think it’s a bit soft to be honest but we’re unlucky to come away with no nothing.”

Bolasie’s involvement in the African Cup of Nations meant he missed the first six weeks of Palace life under new manager Alan Pardew.

But since returning as a sub in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle, the winger has gradually forced his way back into the starting XI and enjoyed creating havoc in a variety of attacking roles.

“I’d like to think I’m capable of causing damage in any part of the pitch,” Bolasie said.

“I’m pretty glad to be playing all across the front four to be honest.”
