Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock is ready to take a gamble in the loan market in a desperate bid to solve the Eagles’ impotency in front of goal.

Palace have scored just nine goals in the past 10 Premier League games, one of which was an own goal, one came from the penalty spot and only two came from a recognised striker.

James McArthur’s header in the 1-1 draw against Stoke City on Saturday was the Eagles first goal in three games.

Warnock has made no secret of his need for a new striker, especially after the 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa where the manner of Christian Benteke’s winner reminded the Selhurst Park crowd of what they were missing.

Crystal Palace: McArthur wants more goals from midfield

He said: “We need a physical presence up front, and we can only take two English lads on loan – one of which is Wilfried Zaha.

“Because I want a left-footed left back too, that really restricts us.

“But you can take in as many foreign players on loan as you like, so we're dragging the net across the globe looking for the right striker.

“But I can see us having to take a gamble on someone.”
