Brede Hangeland says he knows no more than anyone else about who will replace Tony Pulis, the manager who signed him during the close season.

Talking after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates, the Norwegian centre back said he hopes the situation is resolved soon – but conceded he has no idea who will take charge at Selhurst Park.

Despite the uncertainty and former boss Tony Pulis being one of the reasons he came, Hangeland, who joined on a free after Fulham told him via email his services were no longer required, said he is pleased to be at Palace.

The 33-year-old also mentioned he was happy to have scored on his debut, though would have swapped the goal for points.

He said: “It’s really disappointing to be so close away to such a good team.

“I think we did well apart from the two set plays. I think we probably deserved more. It was a great feeling (to have scored) but I would’ve swapped that for some points.

“There’s been a lot of focus on the club in the last few days. We don’t know anything more than you.

“Tony Pulis is a great manager and he’s one of the reasons why I joined the club. But there are a lot of good things about it.”

Echoing the sentiments of Eagles veteran Julian Speroni, the new signing commented the side now needs to concentrate on the season.

He said: “It was a bit of a shock but it’s happened and we need to try to move on.

“The most important thing is to just keep working – if we play like we did today we will be okay.

“I’m sure the people in charge will make the right decision.”

Hangeland added acting manager Keith Millen has done well in the meantime.
