IAN Holloway has blasted Nottingham Forest for their treatment of Peterborough winger George Boyd, who saw a deadline day move fall through after failing an eye test.

The Crystal Palace manager was keen to bring the 27-year-old to Selhurst Park but the Eagles quickly became second favourites once Forest expressed an interest for a player who had already enjoyed a loan spell at the City Ground in 2010.

However, the potential transfer collapsed after Boyd failed an eye test and the player returned to London Road.

When asked if Palace could now possibly renew their interest in the one-time target once the loan market reopens, Holloway replied: “I don’t plan to do that because of what we are doing.

“DJ Campbell has already gone (to Blackburn).

“I feel really sorry for that lad (George Boyd), totally and utterly. I know he can see.

“How can you use that as an excuse?

“That is terrible, that.

“Failed an eye test? No way.”
