Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway wants to draw a line under his time at Blackpool and push on with life at Selhurst Park.

Holloway guided the Tangerines to the Premier League in 2010, only to be relegated after one season.

The 49-year-old took the team to the brink of a return to the top flight last season only to lose the play-off final against West Ham.

He admitted to have lost his "jiggle" at Blackpool this season and that staying at Bloomfield Road with the wrong mindset would not have been fair on the team, the fans, the board or himself.

And while he still has a love for the club, it is time to move on - something for which he apologised.

"I have a lot of love for that place [Blackpool], it has put me back on the map," he said.

"But I’ve got to be serious here, I’ve got to try and make sure I can do what I did before, try to do it again – I don’t think it was a fluke.

"But without being given that opportunity by Mr Oyston [Blackpool chairman], I would not be sat here now.

"I’ve left Blackpool in a better shape than it has been for years and I am proud of that. If leaving there upsets some people, I am sorry but I have got to make a decision for me and my career."

He added: "The longer I stayed there the worse it would be for the team, fans because I am not quite sure I believed I could do it again.

"I absolutely loved the time there, it was the best trip I have ever been on and I want to try to start another one and I am sorry.

"I felt I was letting the Blackpool fans down and the players down. I did not have the same jiggle, I lost m’jiggle. Now I don’t feel like that anymore.

"That is the last time I want to talk about that, Blackpool are going to get a new manager who will get life back in that place."

Holloway takes his new charges to Peterborough this weekend.
