Charlton have drafted in Manchester United midfielder Davide Petrucci on loan for the remainder of the campaign on the same day Marcus Tudgay returned to Nottingham Forest.

Petrucci, 22, joined the Red Devils from Roma in 2009 although he has yet to make a first team appearance for the current Premier League champions.

Described as an attacking versatile midfielder who can play in the middle as well as out wide, Petrucci goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s trip to Derby County.

Meanwhile, Tudgay has had his loan spell in SE7 cut short after failing to even make the bench since the appointment of Jose Riga.

The striker made two substitute appearances under Chris Powell but has now been sent back early to the City Ground.
