CRYSTAL Palace deadline day capture Tom Ince believes the Eagles need to beat the sides around them if they are to survive – starting with tomorrow’s home game against West Brom.

Ince agreed to move to Selhurst Park on loan from Blackpool until the end of the season after snubbing fellow Premier League strugglers Swansea, a wise move considering the Welsh side have subsequently sacked Michael Laudrup.

The winger now has the chance to test himself in the top flight against some of the big guns for the first time in his career and although excited by that prospect, Ince was keen to point out it is getting positive results against drop rivals which really matters.

He explained: “We have some great players here, so I'm going to have to work twice as hard as them and show the Crystal Palace fans what I can do for this football club.

“We've got some big games to come with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea to come to Selhurst Park but those aren’t the games we have to focus on.

“We’ve got Cardiff, West Brom and Swansea coming up and these are the games you have to focus on and I'll be working extra hard in training to help the club out the situation it is in at the moment.”

And Ince revealed he is willing to do whatever Tony Pulis asks him to do in order to help Palace retain their top flight status.

He said: “I’ll play anywhere the manager asks me to. I’m predominantly a winger but I can play in behind the striker or mix it up a bit, so we'll see what the manager says.

“But first of all I need to get up to speed ready for the Premier league. It’s my first time in the Premier League, I am relishing it massively but I feel it is something I am ready for.

“Hopefully Crystal Palace can take me that stage further and I can help the team away from the relegation zone.”

Ince thanked Selhurst chairman Steve Parish for getting the move sorted and also took a swipe at Blackpool counterpart Karl Oyston, the man who recently sacked dad Paul as the Tangerines’ manager.

“I was with Steve Parish from 11 in the morning to 11 at night so it was a long day but I am over the moon to get it done,” he said.

“Steve is a great guy and he worked so hard to get the deal over the line and the Blackpool chairman isn’t the easiest guy to deal with, but he worked his magic and I am thankful for that.

“I went down to Swansea and then met Tony Pulis in London on the same day and as soon as I spoke to Tony I knew Palace was the club for me.”

Ince added: “Me and my old man just thought this was the perfect time to move up to the Premier League and test myself at this level and if I end up staying on at Palace, then I will have these three months to bed in and see what the league is like.

“I will get a chance to show what I can do and if they like me then we will sit down in the summer and see what is available.

“But that’s for the future, my focus now is on forcing my way into the team, getting some goals and helping the club.”
