Arun excited by MCC experience

Sutton and Surrey batsman Arun Harinath says batting for the MCC in their draw with county champions Sussex at Lord's last week was an amazing experience.

The 21-year-old, in only his fourth first-class match, hit 33 runs in his 164-ball stint at the crease - sharing a 57-run stand with England star Owais Shah.

Rain prevented the match from reaching a completion, but the former Tiffin School student, who helped Sutton to win the Surrey Championship in 2006, felt his 164-ball stint at the crease will stand him in good stead for the future.

"It was a brilliant experience to play with the likes of Ed Joyce, Ravi Bopara and Owais Shah. It was nice to be involved and to play well," he said.

"I had a couple of chats with Ed and Michael Carberry, who I know from Sutton, and it was good to pick their brains on batting in general.

"I came in during a tough period and had to see it out to build a platform to score a good total, which was nice to do."
