Backward running world champion Garret Doherty took the honours in both the three kilometre and one kilometre races at the William Hill London Backward Run in Crystal Park on Sunday.
The Irishman completed the kilometre course in just three minutes, 43 seconds and the longer course in 12:42, beating more than 100 competitors.
Meg Moult, from Hampshire won the women's three kilometres in 19:51 and American Janal Carter was first in the women's kilometre race in 6:06.
"People have been running forwards for years," said William Hill's Joe Crilly.
"It is old hat and, let’s be honest, a bit boring."
Event director Sally Raynes added: "The zany nature of backward running created a fabulous atmosphere with competitors buzzing with enthusiasm and excitement whilst spectators animatedly cheered all the competitors."
The UK Backwards Running Championships take place on August 14 in Manchester for anyone wishing to take part.
