Dallaglio to be included in Hall of Fame

LAWRENCE Dallaglio is amongst a host of Wasps legends who will be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame this year.
He won five Premiership crowns and two Heineken Cups during his time with the club, as well as playing every minute of England’s 2003 World Cup winning campaign.
Also being inducted are Dean Ryan, Damian Hopley, Clive Ashby, Freddie Hawkins and Linda Uttley.
Hopley, now CEO of the influential Rugby Players Association, and Ryan, now a Sky Sports pundit, were both capped by England during their time playing for the black and golds, with Ryan guiding the club to league title success in 1990.
Ashby and former captain Hawkins were the outstanding half back combination for the very successful Wasps sides of the 60s and early 70s. Their unique partnership started at RGS Wycombe as schoolboys and continued at Wasps. The highlight of their career was being recognised by the 1962/3 All Blacks as the best pair of halfbacks in the country when they played for East Midlands and narrowly lost 3-0.
Uttley, who sadly died after battling a long illness in 2009, becomes the first woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. She joined Wasps from Teddington in 1995 and became one of their most valuable players, helping them to cup and league triumphs in a team which dominated the women’s game. She also won 13 international caps and playing in the 1998 World Cup squad.
All six players will all be inducted to the London Wasps Hall of Fame at this year’s Hall of Fame dinner, which takes place on Wednesday September 28 at The Savoy Hotel in central London.
