OLYMPIC gold medal winners Zac Purchase from Marlow and Wycombe’s Mark Hunter will race together in Munich next weekend for the first time since winning gold in Beijing in 2008.

They will pair up again in the lightweight double sculls at the second World Cup event of the season.

After taking gold in Beijing, Hunter went to America for a year while Purchase was laid low with a mystery virus that ruled him out of the 2009 season.

Purchase returned to the international stage with gold in the single sculls at the first World Cup event in Slovenia recently, when Hunter was recovering from a back injury.

GB performance director David Tanner said: “Its exciting to see Zac and Mark back together again after almost two years apart – they will be champing at the bit to get racing again as they start their run toward the Worlds in November.”

Meanwhile, Katherine Grainger will again double up in the quads and doubles after winning golds in both events in Slovenia, while Marlow team-mate Greg Searle will hope to make it two golds out of two in the eights after ten years retired.
