GREG Searle made a winning return to rowing with a gold for Britain at the World Cup – and he was just one of a handful of Marlow stars in Slovenia.

The 38-year-old who won Olympic gold in 1992 helped the GB men’s eight to victory to win his first international gold in ten years.

Meanwhile, Katherine Grainger won a spectacular double as she teamed up with Anna Watkins to win the double scull and then, barely an hour later, the pair won gold in the quads alongside Beth Rodford and Annabel Vernon.

Zac Purchase also picked up a gold in his first competitive international event since the Beijing Olympics, winning the lightweight single sculls to make it 16 race victories in a row, while Wycombe’s Naomi Riches won the mixed adaptive coxed four.
