JOHN Lawford struck twice as Chesham beat Thame United 2-0 on Saturday.
In hot conditions, Thame started the better team and were unlucky not to go ahead in the fifth minute when Moore hit the post.
Lawford then caught the Thame defence napping on 26 minutes to open the scoring and he did the same again a minute later to make it 2-0.
After the break, Thame had appeals for a penalty turned down after Nando Perna looked to have been fouled in the box. Chesham had some good chances to increase their lead, only for 18-year-old keeper Nulan Barisic to pull off some fine saves.
