Hall-Jones set for fifth Sheffield test

ATHLETICS: Dr Challoner’s student Cat Hall-Jones will be representing Bucks Schools for the fifth time at the ESAA Championships in Sheffield this weekend.

She takes to the Don Valley track in the senior 100m hurdles having first appeared there in the 75m version five years ago.

She medalled at last year’s event as part of Bucks’ silver-medal winning 4x100m inter relay squad last year and two of her victorious colleagues from that race are also back in Sheffield.

Wycombe High School student Chloe Mays will race the 100m, while schoolmate Leah Barrow will line up in the 300m.

In the Junior section, Highcrest’s Stephanie Clitheroe makes her event debut in the 75m hurdles where she will carry the additional pressure of being ranked third in the country. She will also compete in the relay.

Her Windsor Slough Eton and Hounslow club colleague Georgie Hayes will also accompany her on the trip to South Yorkshire. The Sir William Borlase’s junior will contest the long jump and the relay.

Dr Challoner’s student Sophie Mooney and Beaconsfield High’s Olivia Caesar complete the 4x400m quartet, with Caesar also lining up for the 200m.

Wycombe Abbey’s Melissa Newberry will contest the 3,000m while, for the males, 2008 relay silver medallist Tom Evans goes in the 200m.

Amersham’s Nick Lingley will represent Hertfordshire in the 800m with Dr Challoner’s Lewis Bridges competing in the boys’ long jump.
